This is my baby Bruce. The first time I met him at the cats and dogs home. He spent 2 years of his life up there, after being brought up after being hit by a car. He was adopted briefly but was taken back when the new owners could not cope with him.
He has abandonment issues. He cries if he is left alone. He only sleeps if he is in the same room as you. He was abused when he was a puppy. He use to always cower if you stroked his head. He hates being shouted at. He cowers and shakes. He likes to bark aggressively at most dogs, and he wears a muzzle on walks - he is not actively vicious - he is just very protective, and feels insecure. Most people cross the street to avoid him.
But Bruce loves absolutely everyone. If you make a fuss of him, it makes his day. He loves lookin out the window and if he sees someone come to the door he cannot contain his excitement. He loves to jump up and hug people’s legs, and not let go.
He is very intelligent. He can open doors, and lifts up his own paws to get in to his halter. He knows when you say kiss, to lick you on the cheek. And other tricks :). He is always over the moon when he sees you, even if you’ve been gone for two minutes! He likes to come into our bed in the morning for cuddles, and always tries to get under the duvet if possible.
He has his issues but I would not trade him for the world.
